A month of summer has just whizzed by. This month's craft gives children the opportunity to decorate their photos with a mini collage matte using specific materials and colors that remind them of this past July . For those enjoying summer in the city, choices may be mini paper flowers, mini clip art, buttons. For those children by the shore, choices may include shells, buttons etc.
  1. Photographs
  2. Scissor
  3. Pencil
  4. Ruler
  5. 2-3 sheets of 8.5x11 cardstock in various colors of choice
  6. 12x12 sheet of coordinating color cardstock
  7. 1/2 inch or one inch width strong double sided stick tape.
  8. Glitter and or tiny seed or log beeds
  9. Buttons, tiny clip art, shells, mini fabric flowers etc
  10. Shallow craft container

  1. For the spine: measure and cut one piece of scrapbook paper to 9 x 10
  2. For the front and back covers: measure and cut two pieces of scrapbook paper to 5.25 x 9
  3. Keeping the long side down, measure and mark every 1 inch along the top and bottom of the spine. There should be 9 marks once you are finished marking
  4. Accordion-fold the spine using the marks as your guide. Start at one end folding up first, then down, then up, down, etc.
  5. Depending on which side of the accordion you are placing your photo, put double stick tape on the right or left side of each photo and stick to the alternating flat sides of all of the accordions, except for the first and last sides.
  6. Put double sided tape on the first flap and stick to one side of the covers.
  7. Repeat for the back cover
  8. Create a title for your accordion book using stamps or letter stickers, you can also decorate the front cover of your album using related items (smear glue to paste sand and glitter for a summer album, wrapping paper for a birthday album, etc).
